Charolais

Through out the years of feeding cattle and marketing bulls into the commercial sector, the Charolais breed has always played a huge role in our business. With that in mind the idea to expand into another breed was quite simple. Charolais cattle added to our program what we lacked. It was a complimentary breed that worked well with Red Angus. It was a terminal breed that had big performance that really crossed well with our style of cattle but also our customer base.

We started the Charolais program in the fall of 2006. The high selling bred heifer from the famous EXL Dispersal was added to our program. In the fall of 2007 a large group of cows from the KayMac dispersal were purchased. The spring of 2012 saw the opportunity to acquire the heart of the FMX herd from Bonnyville. The addition of the Murphy cows has cemented our direction to produce low maintenance, highly maternal, powerful Charolais cattle. Also included was the mentorship and guidance of nearly 35 years in the Charolais breed. It was truly the opportunity of a lifetime.

The Charolais herd is and will be run under the same philosophies and criteria that our Red Angus herd was built on. Good feet, legs and udders are a must while the females must be moderate sized, deep, easy keeping and certainly hard working.

We feel that the foundation has been laid to build a more efficient and easier doing Charolais bull and female. These are things that will help set our program apart from the rest of the industry.
